Biography

Sylvia Mueni Kasanga began her career as an architect 16 years ago, gaining unparalleled experience as the Founder and Managing Director of Sycum Solutions Company, an Architectural and Construction Management firm while also establishing herself as a respected arbitrator. She is a member and a Council member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya and a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Currently also working as a Nominated Member of Parliament in the Senate, Sylvia has been an ardent promoter of mental health and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. She has sponsored the Alternative Dispute Resolution Bill and the Mental Health (Amendment) Bill as well as various other motions and statements at the Senate.

Senator Sylvia has been championing for the empowerment of youth and women in rural areas having piloted various local level projects that include; promoting youth inclusivity and employment, showcasing application of modern solutions in the development of community infrastructure, and advocating for public participation in governance, and all forms of development.
